Guatemala sees a 16.8% increase in export during January~April 2010

The Central Bank of Guatemala pointed out based on its statistics that during January~April 2010, Guatemala gained US$2.8883 billion from exports, growing by US$414.6 million or 16.8% over US$2.4736 billion exported in the corresponding period of 2009. Among all exports, sugar represents the top item, earning US$345.1 million, increasing by NT$192.2 million over NT$152.9 million export worth in 2009. Guatemala exported US$362 million worth coffee, growing by 24.4% over the corresponding period of the preceding year, exported US$140.9 million worth banana; US$81.6 billion, growing by 71.7%. On the contrary, nutmeg exports dropped from US$92.9 million of 2009 down to US$48.6 million, dropping by 48.6%.
