Guatemala clothing increases exports to the United States

According to the statistics presented by the Garments Commission (Comisión de Vestuario y Textil-Vestex)of the Exporters Association of Guatemala (Asociación Guatemalteca de Exportadores-Agexport), from January to April 2010, textile and clothing exports to the U.S. amounted to 385,4 million U.S dollars, an increase of 82 million U.S. dollars compared to last year, 78,1% accounted for exports of textiles and clothing in Guatemala for that period, followed by Central American countries, accounting for 17%, to 84,1 million U.S. dollars, 2,37% from Mexico with 11 million and 2,2 million U.S. dollars from Canada, other countries with 9,5 million. The total exports of textiles and garments from January to April 2010 are 453,1 million, with 6 consecutive months since November 2009, to show a continuous growth trend.
