Taiwan carriers take off in global airlines rankings
2015/10/01
Taiwan’s China Airlines Co. Ltd. and EVA Airways Corp. are second and third, respectively, in the latest top 10 global carrier rankings released Sept. 27 by The Design Air, a website for airline industry product news and reviews.
China Airlines trailed only Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. of Hong Kong in the inaugural Passenger’s Choice Airline Brands report. TDA attributed the result to the carrier’s NextGen program, including new aircraft, upgraded food and lounges, as well as revamped uniforms for the cabin crew.
“The judges were incredibly surprised and impressed by China Airlines’ turnaround over the past 18 months, and it seems to have paid off with passengers, too,” TDA said.
In two other TDA assessments released earlier in the year, China Airlines finished 10th and seventh, respectively, on the top 10 lists of business classes and cool carriers.
EVA Airways also performed well on the passenger’s choice rankings. Its Hello Kitty franchise “has seen both liveries and aircraft interiors themed to Asia’s favorite cartoon character,” TDA said.
TDA commended EVA Airways for its hard products, diversified routes and premium economy class, which allow passengers to enjoy enhanced services at an affordable price.
The other carriers making the top 10 list are Singapore Airlines Ltd., Hawaiian Airlines Inc., Ethiad Airways, Qantas Airways Ltd., All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd., Emirates Airlines and Air New Zealand Ltd. in that order.
