Taiwan’s EVA Airways Corp. was rated the world’s seventh-best airline for 2015 and best long-haul flight carrier in the Asia-Pacific region in a survey released Dec. 2 by Australia-based airline safety and product rating review website AirlineRatings.com.
“Being recognized by knowledgeable and respected airline industry experts is gratifying,” EVA Chairman K.W. Chang said. “These honors are a sign that we are headed in the right direction to become the world’s best airline.”
“EVA is a deserving winner and a clear leader in its region,” Geoffrey Thomas, editor-in-chief of the website, said, adding that the company was one of the first to introduce premium economy class and has continued to offer flyers a wide range of options. “It can be counted on to deliver the best possible product.”
This is the first time the firm made the list in the annual survey. Air New Zealand Ltd. won top honors for the second consecutive year, while Etihad Airways Ltd. and Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. came in second and third, respectively.
According to EVA, the company earned the survey’s top seven-star rating for demonstrating excellence in its safety record and standards as well as its in-flight products, passenger options and good value for money, among other key considerations.
Established in 1989, Taoyuan County-based EVA has been a regular winner of aviation industry and travel surveys. With a safety record of zero incidents and zero fatalities, the company placed fifth in the 2013 list of the world’s 60 safest carriers published Jan. 17, 2014 by Germany-based airline industry magazine AERO International.
