2014-11-27

Changhua County Art Museum opened Nov. 25 in central Taiwan, underscoring local government efforts spotlighting the strength of the area’s cultural and creative sector.

“This establishment will promote the richness of our regional culture,” Changhua County Magistrate Cho Po-yuan said at the inauguration ceremony. “We expect the facility to attract top-notch artists and art aficionados from home and abroad.”

Also attending the event were 196 county artists participating in the museum’s inaugural exhibition of digital, installation and visual art pieces created by such talents as tin shaper Chen Wan-neng and Buddha statue-maker Shih Chih-hui.

Built at a cost of NT$411 million (US$13.4 million), CCAM’s eight-story, green design features high ceilings and plenty of natural light, enabling artworks to be displayed in all their glory.

Cho said the museum, winner of the gold FIABCI-Taiwan Real Estate Excellence Award in 2013, will enhance Changhua’s skyline and complement nearby Baguashan Scenic Area, Confucius Temple and National Changhua Living Art Center.

“This world-class facility is certain to draw more visitors to Changhua and provide a shot in the arm for the county’s cultural and creative sector.”
