2014-10-15
This year’s Taipei Culture Passport program kicked off Oct. 14, boosting the local cultural and creative industry while encouraging public participation in related activities.
“The initiative has successfully showcased homegrown talents over the past decade,” a Taipei City Government official said. “It is also an important way of encouraging residents to appreciate the cultural heritage of the metropolis and unlock their creative potential.”
Wrapping up Nov. 14, the monthlong event includes 18 theme lectures on topics such as architecture, concept brand management and bookstores, a pop-up market and shop, and two outdoor installation artworks staged at venues like Huashan 1914 Creative Park and Beitou Branch of Taipei Public Library.
The concept brand management lecture is by world-renowned clothing designers Changlee Yugin and Stephane Dou. The two Taiwan talents will elaborate on the creative process of fashion design and industry trends in Taipei and abroad.
Running for one day, the market and shop are set to introduce 50 exceptional design items and locally grown organic products, respectively. The initiative is certain to prove popular with cultural aficionados looking for a special taste of Taipei.
The two outdoor installation artworks, Move On by Biaugust Creation Office and Mr. Dove by illustrator Page Tsou, will be set up at Taipei bus stations.
“All of the program’s activities spotlight the diversity and vibrancy of life in Taipei,” the official said. “We look forward to providing the public with a fresh take on the city’s artistic landscape.”
