ROC bags 2 more silvers at Asian Games

Taiwan athletes won two silvers and a bronze Sept. 29 at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, keeping the country’s medal tally ticking over at the quadrennial event.
On the tennis court, Chan Chin-wei and Hsieh Su-wei won silver in the women’s doubles after going down 7-5, 3-6, 3-10 to their opponents from Thailand. Later in the day, Chan Hao-ching and Peng Hsien-yin claimed silver in the mixed doubles with a 4-6, 3-6 loss to a pairing from India.
The silver medal performances built upon the success the day before of sisters Chan Hao-ching and Chan Yung-jan, who took bronze in the women’s doubles.
In the cycling, Hsiao Mei-yu earned bronze in the road race, finishing behind her rivals from Thailand and Vietnam in that order.
Prior to the competition, Hsiao had won gold in the omnium and two bronzes in the team sprint and pursuit events. The latest addition brings her career medal count at the Asian Games to two golds, one silver and four bronzes.
As of Sept. 29, Taiwan is eighth in the medal standings with seven golds, seven silvers and 12 bronzes.
