The Ministry of Science and Technology pavilion opened Sept. 18 at Taipei International Invention Show and Technomart, showcasing the creative capabilities of Taiwan’s educational institutions and research bodies.
“We are excited to see so many high-tech submissions with everyday life applications at this prestigious event,” MOST Deputy Minister Lin Yi-bing said. “The ministry will continue supporting the nation’s students and researchers in achieving product commercialization for their designs and tapping business opportunities.”
Staged at Taipei World Trade Center Hall No. 1, the four-day event features 29 presentation seminars, a technology competition for business matchmaking opportunities and a post-exhibition online show of R&D results for 130 inventions selected from a record 941 entries.
These creations, spanning biotech healthcare, green energy and intelligent living, come from 30 exhibitors such as Far East University, National Applied Research Laboratories, National Taipei University of Technology, National Taiwan University and National Yunlin University of Science and Technology.
Lin said the 130 inventions boast exceptional commercialization potential, especially a visible light transmission communication system by NTUT and a voice- and expression-recognition baby care monitoring unit and app by NYUST. “We expect the baby care system to launch in December and quickly prove popular with consumers around Taiwan.”
Entering into its 10th year, the event also features pavilions set up by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of National Defense and Council of Agriculture.
