Taiwan designers gear up for Paris exhibition

2014-09-02

A record 30-plus Taiwan cultural and creative sector outfits will showcase their latest designs at homeware and furniture show Maison et Objet in Paris Sept. 5-9, according to the Ministry of Culture.

“We are extremely excited to see so many local brands exhibiting their unique Taiwan cultural offerings at this prestigious event,” a MOC official said. “They will surely expand their global footprint and boost the nation’s international profile.”

Maison et Objet, along with Internationale Mobelm Cologne and Salone del Mobile in Milan, is one of three major European homeware and furniture shows.

According to the MOC, 10 Taiwan firms such as lighting fixture manufacturer Kimu Design Co. Ltd., glass art-maker Tittot Co. Ltd and metalware creator Zan Design Co. Ltd. are set to feature at the ministry’s Fresh Taiwan pavilion in Hall 8—home of leading-edge trends for buyers, media and industry professionals at the event.

Other local outfits such as Chuan Gallery, Haoshi Design and Polylight Design Co. Ltd. will take part in the show under the auspices of the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.

Entering into its third year, Fresh Taiwan was launched to promote the nation’s cultural and creative industry at related exhibitions overseas. The program is taking Taiwan’s design brands to five international exhibitions in 2014.
