Deputy Minister Chen Bing-yu of the National Science and Technology Council and Omer Shechter, director general of Israel’s Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, co-hosted the 10th edition of a cooperative conference between Taiwan and Israel on science and technology via video conference Nov. 17.
Abby Ya-ping Lee, head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Tel Aviv, and Maya Yaron, representative of the Israel Culture and Economic Office in Taipei, were both present to give remarks online, the council said.
According to the NSTC, the talks resulted in an agreement to jointly subsidize six projects in the areas of semiconductor design and next-generation materials. The six projects, in which five domestic universities will participate, will be implemented in January 2026.
A pilot initiative to forge an international exchange platform for young researchers is also planned, the council added. Chen noted at the meeting that bilateral collaboration has been continuous since the signing of an agreement in 2006.
To further reciprocal exchange, the two countries will also jointly organize academic workshops on emerging technologies to build long-term cooperative networks and advance mutual learning and collaborative innovation, the NSTC said.
