2025/05/28
The Asia-Pacific Power Summit kicked off May 26 in Taipei City, with industry experts and representatives from major utility companies in the region gathering to address challenges stemming from energy transformation.
The three-day event was organized by Taiwan Smart Grid Industry Association with sponsorship from state-run Taiwan Power Co., Taiwan Institute of Economics Research and New Taipei City-based network solution provider MOXA Inc.
Taipower Vice President Wu Chin-chung said the company ranked second on the Smart Grid Index compiled by Singapore Power Ltd. between 2022 and 2024, attributing the strong showings to the utility firm’s exceptional technological prowess. Taipower will continue to integrate information and communications technologies and expand cooperation with regional counterparts to enhance power system resilience and ensure a stable power supply, he said.
According to the organizers, the global push to achieve net-zero emissions and carbon neutrality has made energy transformation a key policy focus for governments around the world. The summit aims to foster the exchange of ideas and innovative solutions while addressing the future challenges of energy transformation to help countries in the region achieve their national net-zero and energy transformation goals.
During the Utility Day session on the opening day, utility companies from Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and Australia shared their experiences and strategies to achieve stable, smart and resilient power grids, followed by a site visit to Taipower’s Central Dispatch Control Center.
On the second day of the event, invited speakers will discuss their respective net-zero policies, including Taiwan’s Pathway to Net-Zero Emissions in 2050, and showcase successful implementation case studies. On the final day, participants will focus their discussions on cutting-edge technologies and applications in power systems, next-generation solutions and feature demonstrations.
