FM Lin welcomes Israeli legislative delegation

Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung received a legislative delegation from Israel May 6 in Taipei City, with the two sides exchanging views on regional affairs and potential cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the group, comprised of delegates spanning four political parties, was led by Ohad Tal, a member of the Knesset and its Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. Maya Yaron, head of the Israel Economic and Culture Office in Taipei, also attended the meeting.
In his remarks, Lin thanked the guests for facilitating bilateral links and shared how deeply impressed he was by Israel’s development when he participated in the 32nd International Mayors Conference in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. He anticipated deepening cooperation in areas spanning artificial intelligence, culture, economy, information security, innovative industry, smart agriculture, technology and tourism.
In response, Tal emphasized that the cross-party delegation reflected Israel’s unanimous support for Taiwan and lauded the 34 bilateral cooperative agreements signed since Israel set up a representative office in Taiwan in 1993. He expressed hope of further deepening two-way ties.
Following the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister François Chih-chung Wu held a reception for the delegation, the MOFA added.
Earlier the same day, Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim welcomed the Israeli delegates at the Presidential Office and conveyed hope of advancing bilateral prosperity, according to a PO news release May 6.
