Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim attended a reception for the 40th Asian Bankers Association General Meeting and Conference Nov. 18 in Taipei City, highlighting government commitment to a resilient economy and advancing prosperity in the region.
Hsiao noted the theme of this year’s forum was “Transitioning Towards a Sustainable Future,” specifically targeting financial institutions’ transformation via technology, co-creation of sustainable goals and a renewed focus on clients.
The vice president pointed out that the government integrates financial resources and promotes net-zero transition to tackle climate change challenges while proactively implementing green finance initiatives as a catalyst for industry to reduce carbon emissions. Guidelines for certifying sustainable economic activity and an environment, society and governance information platform are also promoted, Hsiao said.
The vice president extended appreciation to representatives of financial institutions for collaboration with the government in tackling transnational fraud. She said this required collaboration between public and private sectors as well as global cooperation to safeguard property and rules-based financial systems.
The two-day multinational and interdisciplinary discussions are anticipated to posit further creative and diverse concepts to address difficulties that arise when global finance is volatile, Hsiao concluded.
