Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim thanked First Vice President Jiří Drahoš of the Czech Senate and his delegation for their part in facilitating the development of Taiwan and Czechia’s partnership June 11 in Taipei City.
According to Hsiao, Drahoš’ group includes experts on culture, education, history, industry and technology, all of whom have contributed greatly to the countries’ shared successes in a variety of programs.
Hsiao also took the opportunity to express gratitude to the Czech government for its donation in the wake of the April 3 earthquake in eastern Taiwan. She said that the new administration is intent on building resilience throughout society, and anticipates further collaboration with Czechia to jointly establish resilient supply chains.
In response, Drahoš noted that the two-way ties are founded on the shared values of democracy, freedom and human rights, adding that Czechia and Taiwan share similar sentiments on many geopolitical issues. He added that the two parties’ deep bond was also evident in the reciprocal assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the collaborative support for Ukraine.
