The Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulated India on the successful conclusion of its 18th parliamentary election June 5.
According to India’s Election Commission, the National Democratic Alliance won a majority in the Lok Sabha (House of the People), securing a third term for incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Upon the announcement of Modi’s victory, President Lai Ching-te posted congratulations on social media platform X and eagerly anticipated further expanding the fast-growing partnership. In response, Modi thanked Lai for the warm message and said he looked forward to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation.
Both Taiwan and India are major players in the Indo-Pacific, the MOFA said. The two-way relationship has been steadily expanding in recent years, especially in the fields of culture, economy, education, semiconductors and trade, the ministry added.
The government will continue working with India across the board to jointly contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the region, the MOFA concluded.
