The Ministry of Foreign Affairs arranged a tour of Taiwan’s key renewable energy firms and facilities for foreign diplomatic personnel in Taiwan Nov. 30-Dec. 1 to promote global visibility of the country’s green technology while generating further opportunities for international cooperation.
According to the MOFA, two industry visits are organized annually by the ministry. Lien Yu-ping, director general of the Department of International Cooperation and Economic Affairs, led ambassadors and representatives to Taiwan from 18 countries on a trip around the southern city of Tainan to give them a deeper understanding of new developments in the energy sector, it said.
The visit is expected to help advance the global vision goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, the ministry said, adding that with the 28th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC in Dubai occurring simultaneously, the event highlighted Taiwan as a major hub of green innovation as countries around the world discuss how to jointly tackle the challenges of climate change.
During the trip, the group visited enterprises such as Solar Applied Materials, Longshun Green Energy Technology, Hengs Technology Co. and Shalun Green Energy Technology Demonstration Site, where participants witnessed firsthand a range of techniques including methods for recycling and refining waste and transforming textile fibers into solid recovered fuel, the MOFA said. They also gained insight into the extent of Taiwan’s solar photovoltaic power generation system and circular economy, the ministry added.
Many attendees said they were impressed with the advancements they saw and expressed hope of attending more such tours to keep up to date on the evolution of Taiwan industries, the MOFA said.
