MOFA welcomes U.N. permanent representatives

The visit by a seven-member delegation of United Nations permanent representatives from Taiwan’s allies is sincerely welcomed by the government and people of Taiwan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Nov. 13 in Taipei City.
 
The group consists of permanent U.N. representatives, Inga Rhonda King of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Amatlain Elizabeth Kabua of the Marshall Islands, Margo Reminisse Deiye of Nauru, Carlos Fuller of Belize, and Jose Eduardo Pereira Sosa of Paraguay, the MOFA said.
 
During the six-day stay, the group will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen, Legislative Yuan President You Si-kun, Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu, Minister of Health and Welfare Hsueh Jui-yuan, Minister of Digital Affairs Audrey Tang and other officials. They will also attend a banquet hosted by Deputy Foreign Minister Tien Chung-kwang. 

Other events on the itinerary include visits to the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction, the International Cooperation and Development Fund, the Southern Taiwan Science Park and attendance at the 6th Global Corporate Sustainability Forum.

MOFA characterized the group as staunch friends of the country with deep experience of the U.N. who support the country’s bid to join the international body. Their visit seeks deeper understanding of Taiwan’s current economic and political status as well as exchange of views with ministries on how to relate these to the organization’s current policy and targets.
