2023/10/31

The visit by a delegation from allies in Latin America and the Caribbean is sincerely welcomed by the government and people of Taiwan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Oct. 30.

According to the ministry, the group is set to arrive later in the day and comprises seven ministers from Belize, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as members of the Formosa Club chapter in the region.

During their five-day stay, the delegates will meet with Legislative Yuan President You Si-kun and attend a banquet hosted by Vice Foreign Minister Remus Li-kuo Chen. They will also call on the Ministry of Environment, the International Cooperative and Development Fund and Taipower D/S One, as well as key cultural sites such as National Palace Museum and Taipei 101 to better understand Taiwan’s cultural and social developments.

Since its launch in 2019, the Formosa Club of Latin America and the Caribbean has continued to speak for Taiwan at various international venues, including supporting the country’s participation in the World Health Organization, International Civil Aviation Organization and U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, the MOFA said. As one of the strongest advocates for Taiwan in the region, the cross-party platform’s constant support on the global stage is deeply appreciated, the ministry added.
