MOFA to stage 7th Ketagalan Forum in Taipei

The Ketagalan Forum: 2023 Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue is set to take place Aug. 8 in Taipei City, underscoring government commitment to expanding cooperation and exchanges with Taiwan’s like-minded partners for the maintenance and promotion of regional peace, stability and prosperity.
 
Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Taipei-based Prospect Foundation, the one-day event features keynote speeches from Taro Aso, Japan’s former prime minister and current vice president of the Liberal Democratic Party, as well as Andrus Ansip, former prime minister of Estonia and current member of the European Parliament.
 
According to the MOFA, the forum also comprises panel discussions on the Taiwan Strait and global security order, the challenges and impact of gray-zone tactics on democracy, and international supply chain restructuring and Taiwan’s role in supporting economic security.

Fourteen academics, experts and political figures from 12 countries are scheduled to participate, including Keisuke Suzuki, member of Japan’s House of Representatives; Daniel Russel, vice president of international security and diplomacy at the U.S.-based Asia Society Policy Institute; Karambir Singh, chairman of India’s National Maritime Foundation; Isaac Ben-Israel, director of the Blavatnik Interdisciplinary Cyber Studies Centre of Tel Aviv University in Israel; and Vilius Semeska, member of Lithuania’s Seimas.
