The MOFA sincerely welcomes the visit of a cross-party Polish parliamentary delegation led by Barbara Bartus,Polish lower house Foreign Affairs Committee vice chairperson June 18-22.
The delegation aims to gain a deeper understanding of cross-strait issues, regional security, economy and trade, as well as technology and further cooperation on Ukrainian refugee relief. The delegation’s itinerary includes visits to Hsinchu Science Park, the National Palace Museum and Taipei 101.
During their five-day stay, the delegation will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen and visit the Legislative Yuan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Development Council and Mainland Affairs Council. In addition, MOFA Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu will host a banquet for the group.
The two countries have expanded their ties over the last few years, the MOFA said, citing agreements on youth working holidays, air transport, reciprocal recognition of driving licenses, avoidance of double taxation and judicial cooperation.
Other examples of the robust relationship include the donation of 400,000 COVID-19 vaccines to Taiwan by the Polish government; the resolution passed in April this year by Taiwan-friendly members of the upper and lower houses of the Polish parliament to support Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Organization and joint cooperation with Poland to aid Ukrainian refugees fleeing the Russian invasion.
The MOFA said Taiwan will continue to expand cooperation and exchanges across the board with Poland to strengthen the resilient partnership.
