PO, MOFA welcome upcoming visit by president of Guatemala

The upcoming visit by Guatemala President Alejandro Eduardo Giammattei Falla is welcomed by the government and people of Taiwan, according to the Presidential Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs April 20.
Set to arrive April 24, the group will include ministers from departments including agriculture, economy, foreign affairs and public finance, as well as the president of the Congress.
During its four-day stay, the delegation will receive a military salute and state banquet hosted by President Tsai Ing-wen, attend banquets hosted by Vice President Lai Ching-te and MOFA Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu, and visit Legislative Yuan President You Si-kun. Giammattei is also scheduled to deliver an address to the LY.
The group members will also meet with Guatemalan students studying in Taiwan, tour Taichung City-based RAC Electric Vehicles Inc. and take part in the launch ceremony for a festival celebrating Guatemalan coffee staged by the Central America Trade Office in Taipei City.
According to the MOFA, Taiwan and Guatemala enjoy a long-standing partnership and Giammattei has shown strong support for the country’s international participation for many years. Their alliance has led to cooperation on a range of projects to benefit the people of Guatemala by boosting economic and social development, the ministry added.
