Taiwan to hold IAPCO general assembly in 2025
2023/02/15
Taipei City will hold the annual general assembly of the International Association of Professional Congress Organizers in February 2025, the Bureau of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Economic Affairs said Feb. 10.
The announcement was made by IAPCO President Ori Lahav during the organization’s 2023 assembly held Feb. 6-9 in Jerusalem, the BOFT added.
According to the bureau, the IAPCO gathering follows the International Congress and Convention Association Congress staged in Kaohsiung in 2020. The decision by IAPCO represents a vote of confidence in Taiwan’s credentials as a host of global events.
The BOFT said the development is of particular significance at a time when countries around the world are re-opening their borders in the post-pandemic era. It will also further enhance Taiwan’s global visibility as a top event destination.
The meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions sector is a key player in assisting Taiwan firms to expand their presence worldwide, the BOFT said. The government will continue to work with all related parties to accelerate the MICE sector’s digital transformation, innovative capacity and resilience to secure more business opportunities for firms, it added.
Headquartered in Zurich, IAPCO is a leading nonprofit organization that represents 138 companies from 38 countries responsible for organizing national and international congresses, conventions and special events around the world.
