The Taiwan Science and Technology Hub initiative was launched by National Science and Technology Council Jan. 3, spotlighting government commitment to promoting cooperation with the U.S. in related research exchanges, start-up promotion and personnel training.
During the launch ceremony in Taipei City, NSTC Minister Wu Tsung-tsong said the hub will create synergy through collaboration across government institutions and academic disciplines. It will also connect with leading research and tertiary institutions in the U.S. Bay Area to showcase Taiwan’s strengths to the world.
According to the NSTC, scientific research exchanges between Taiwan and the U.S. have become more frequent after the two sides signed the Science and Technology Agreement in December 2020. The hub at California’s Stanford University will integrate a wide range of resources into a single platform to promote closer, more effective collaboration, it sad.
The NSTC said in addition to scientific research, innovation and semiconductors, the two sides will also explore other disciplines in which there are mutual interests such as precision health, quantum technology and sustainable energy.
The hub will also organize a series of academic and scientific research conferences, symposiums and workshops at the university and the surrounding region to enhance Taiwan’s international profile, the council added.
