MOFA welcomes Taiwan’s inclusion in Czechia Indo-Pacific strategic policy framework

Taiwan’s inclusion in the Czech Republic strategic policy framework for the Indo-Pacific is sincerely welcomed by the government and people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The framework, released earlier this year, describes China as a systemic rival, the MOFA said, adding that Czechia continues to monitor geopolitical and security developments across the Taiwan Strait, East and South China Seas.
According to the document, Czechia shares universal values of freedom, democracy and respect for human rights with many like-minded countries in the region. The EU member state is committed to safeguarding rules-based international order while advancing bilateral relations with major partners such as Taiwan.
The framework also quotes the Policy Statement of the Government of the Czech Republic as “to continue deepening cooperation with democratic partners in the Indo-Pacific,” the MOFA said. Enhancing such partnership is in alignment with Czechia’s interests, the ministry added.
Taiwan and the E.U. member share a commitment to defend against authoritarian expansionism, the MOFA said. The government will continue to work with the Czech Republic to promote a free, open, peaceful and stable region, the ministry added.
