New York-based Taiwan vibraphonist Su Yu-han will join Poland accordionist Zbigniew Chojnacki and Spain drummer Ramon Prats to perform as ZB·YU·RA Trio at the 2022 Jazzycolors Festival Nov. 16 in Paris, according to the Ministry of Culture.
Organized by the Forum of Foreign Cultural Institutes in Paris (FICEP), this year’s edition runs from Nov. 3 to Dec. 3 and features more than 20 concerts across multiple sites, the MOC said. Serbian pianist Bojan Z. performed at the opening show in keeping with the event’s tradition, the ministry added.
Representing Taiwan, ZB·YU·RA Trio is scheduled to play original pieces and traditional Taiwan folk songs, the MOC said. The band will explore the relationship between sound and human perception in modern jazz, the ministry added.
According to the MOC, the trio was formed in 2019 and made its debut performance while participating in the artist-in-residence program at La Marfa—Music Creation Center in Girona, Spain.
Established in 2003 by the Czech Center in Paris as part of foreign cultural events organized by the FICEP, the festival aims to promote jazz musicians from different countries to French audiences.
