Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu accepted a copy of credentials from Donya Lynex Francis, new St. Kitts and Nevis ambassador to the ROC (Taiwan), according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nov. 7.
Wu, who extended a warm welcome to Francis, said he looks forward to working with the Caribbean ally’s ambassador to deepen friendship and expand exchanges between the two countries. He reiterated Taiwan’s commitment to cooperation with St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Terrance Drew to implement mutual benefits and improve the peoples’ well-being.
Taiwan and St. Kitts and Nevis have a long-standing friendship, Wu said. The unflagging support of St. Kitts and Nevis for Taiwan’s participation in international organizations is deeply appreciated by all segments of society, he added.
In response, Francis said St. Kitts and Nevis is a vital ally of Taiwan. He vowed to work unceasingly to strengthen ties and advance cooperation across a broad spectrum of areas during his tenure.
After six years’ study in Taiwan, Francis first earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism and communications and then graduated from Taipei Medical University with a master’s degree in global health and development. He previously served in the prime minister’s office in St. Kitts and Nevis.
In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the MOFA said “Minister Wu was pleased to meet with Donya Lynex Francis & accept the copy of his credentials as #StKittsAndNevis new ambassador to #Taiwan. We wish our longtime friend from the #Caribbean ally every success & happily anticipate furthering bilateral relations in all areas.”
