St. Kitts and Nevis PM Terrance Drew, delegation arrives in Taiwan

St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Terrance Drew and his delegation touched down for a four-day visit to Taiwan Nov. 7, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
Met upon arrival by MOFA Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in the northern city, Drew is accompanied by Denzil Douglas, minister of foreign affairs; Mark A. G. Brantley, premier of Nevis; Joyelle Clarke, minister of sustainable development, climate action, constituency empowerment and environment; and Isalean Phillip, minister for youth empowerment, aging and disabilities, social development and gender affairs.
 
During their trip, delegation members will receive a military honor guard welcome and attend a state banquet with President Tsai Ing-wen, followed by meetings with Premier Su Tseng-chang and Wu and a banquet hosted by Wu.
 
Other highlights of the itinerary include visits to the Mainland Affairs Council, Environmental Protection Administration and National Health Insurance Administration.
 
According to the MOFA, this is the first time Drew has traveled to Taiwan after taking office as prime minister.
 
Since Taiwan and St. Kitts and Nevis established diplomatic ties in 1983, the allies have worked closely in areas spanning climate resilience education, information and communications technology, sustainable development, tourism, and women’s empowerment, the MOFA said. Two-way ties have gone from strength to strength over the past 39 years and are expected to further flourish going forward, it added.
