2022/09/28

A delegation of Spanish language National Development Course participants were welcomed by the government and people of Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sept. 25.

Organized by the MOFA, the NDC aims to deepen knowledge of Taiwan in friendly Latin American countries and allies to strengthen bilateral friendships. This year’s course started with an online forum covering topics such as Taiwan’s diplomacy, politics, economics and trade, culture, public health, women’s empowerment and cross-strait relations and was followed by the field trip to Taiwan.

Comprising 8 government and parliamentary officials from six diplomatic allies and friendly countries, including Guatemala and Paraguay, the itinerary includes the Taipei City-based Prospect Foundation, The Garden of Hope Foundation and Excelsior Bio-System Incorporation, as well as Hsinchu Science Park and Taoyuan City-based Tron Energy Technology Corporation.

The delegation also visits the cultural landmarks of Taipei-headquartered National Palace Museum, the National Center for Traditional Arts Yilan Park in northeastern Taiwan and the Taipei 101 building.

Launched in 2001, the Spanish language NDC is attended by officials from diplomatic allies and friendly countries in Latin America. The courses are taught by Taiwan experts and academics.
