Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu accepted the copy of the credentials of Harold Burgos, new ambassador of Honduras to the ROC (Taiwan), while exchanging views on a variety of issues pertaining to bilateral relations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs July 12.

Wu, who extended a warm welcome to Burgos, said he looks forward to working with the Central America ally’s ambassador in deepening friendship and expanding exchanges between the two countries. He reiterated Taiwan’s commitment to cooperating with Honduras President Xiomara Castro in achieving related policy goals and improving the well-being of the people.

In response, Burgos said Taiwan is a vital ally of Honduras. He vowed to leave no stone unturned in strengthening ties and advancing cooperation across a broad spectrum of areas during his tenure.

Recipient of a scholarship provided by the government of Taiwan, Burgos graduated from Taipei City-based National Chengchi University. He previously served as cultural attache at the Honduras embassy in Taiwan.

In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said “Minister Wu was pleased to meet with Harold Burgos & accept the copy of his credentials as ambassador. We wish our friend from #CentralAmerica all the best & look forward to working together in capitalizing on opportunities to keep strengthening #Taiwan-#Honduras relations.”
