Eny Yamileth Bautista Guevara, outgoing Honduras ambassador to the ROC (Taiwan), received the Order of Brilliant Star with Grand Cordon June 14 in recognition of her efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.
The state honor was presented by Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu on behalf of President Tsai Ing-wen during a ceremony at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taipei City. Attendees included members of the Taiwan diplomatic corps and friends of Bautista.
According to Wu, Bautista worked tirelessly in advancing Taiwan-Honduras ties across a broad spectrum of areas since taking up her post in December 2019. These contributions deepened people-to-people friendship and understanding between the countries, he said.
In response, Bautista thanked the government and people of Taiwan for the assistance, support and warmth she received during her tenure.
The state honor underscores the unshakeable friendship shared by Taiwan and Honduras, Bautista said. Continued close cooperation between the two sides is key to overcoming global challenges such as climate change, COVID-19, economic instability and threats to rules-based international order, she added.
In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the MOFA said “Minister Wu presented Eny Yamileth Bautista Guevara the Order of Brilliant Star with Grand Cordon for her extensive contributions to advancing #Taiwan-#Honduras relations. We thank the outgoing ambassador for her exemplary efforts, & wish her a bright & prosperous future.”
