MOEA Minister Wang meets with Swedish, European Parliament delegation

A meeting between Economics Minister Wang Mei-hua and the Swedish, European Parliament delegation took place April 11 in Taipei City, underscoring both sides’ commitment to strengthening business and people-to-people ties.
Led by Boriana Aberg, chair of the Swedish-Taiwanese Parliamentarian Association, and Charlie Weimers, member of the European Parliament, the delegation includes Riksdag lawmakers Kerstin Lundgren, third deputy speaker; Bjorn Soder; Lars Adaktusson; Markus Wiechel; Ann-Sofie Alm; Lars Puss; and Alexander Christiansson.
During the talks, Wang, Aberg and Weimers discussed areas of mutual interest such as electric vehicles, energy, semiconductors, Taiwan’s exports and gross domestic product, as well as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
According to Wang, Taiwan, Sweden and the EU cherish shared values like freedom, democracy, respect for human rights and international rules-based order. The government will continue to deepen friendship and expand exchanges with both sides across a broad spectrum of areas, she said.
Wang also took the opportunity to thank Aberg for standing with Taiwan and backing the country’s participation in international organizations.
In response, Aberg expressed a willingness to continue such support. Sweden looks forward to strengthening bilateral economic and trade relations, she said, adding that this extends to promoting partnerships of prosperity benefiting the people.
