Minister of Foreign Affairs Jaushieh Joseph Wu and Minister of Industry and Commerce Luis Alberto Castiglioni talked Taiwan-Paraguay ties March 29 in Taipei City during the visit of a delegation from the country’s South America ally.
Taiwan and Paraguay enjoy rock solid relations based on shared values and a long-standing history of cooperation benefiting the people, Wu said. The government is committed to deepening friendship and expanding exchanges going forward, he added.
According to Wu, Paraguay is a staunch supporter of Taiwan’s international participation. The government and people deeply appreciate this backing, as well as ongoing efforts to advance bilateral ties, he said.
In response, Castiglioni said he first traveled to Taiwan in 1991 and has since witnessed remarkable progress in bilateral relations. The delegation’s trip is further evidence of this healthy state of affairs and is expected to significantly contribute to keeping two-way economic and trade ties on the growth track, he added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Paraguay is a key Latin America partner for Taiwan, and the government will leave no stone unturned in advancing cooperation between the countries spanning a broad spectrum of areas.
In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the MOFA said “Minister Wu had a good meeting with old friend @LuisCastiglioni. Talks focused on cultivating opportunities for #Taiwan & #SouthAmerica ally #Paraguay to forge fresh fields of cooperation benefiting the people. We wish the
@MIC_PY minister & his delegation a productive visit.”
