Tsai lauds Taiwan’s military ahead of Lunar New Year

President Tsai Ing-wen said Jan. 21 that the ROC (Taiwan) armed forces are playing a key role in safeguarding the people and defending the country’s democratic way of life.
 
The selfless sacrifice of Taiwan’s fighting women and men guarantee the security of the country, Tsai said. In protecting the airspace and territorial waters, the people feel safe and go about daily life full of confidence, she added.
 
Tsai made the remarks while delivering Lunar New Year wishes in her capacity as commander in chief to those serving with the air force’s Seventh Flight Training Wing, the army’s Taitung Area Command and the navy’s Fugang Radar Station, in southeastern Taiwan’s Taitung County.
 
According to Tsai, the units tackle all missions with professionalism for optimal results. The air force’s Seventh Flight Training Wing is exemplary, with members playing a key role in ensuring pilots maintain the highest level of operational proficiency spanning the critically important areas of combat, bombing and weapons deployment, she said.
 
Tsai was also briefed on the latest defense developments and observed various exercises. It is the sincere hope of the government and people that all personnel and their families enjoy a safe and prosperous Year of the Tiger, she said.
