1st Taiwanese-Slovak Commission on Economic Cooperation wraps up in Taipei

The 1st session of the Taiwanese-Slovak Commission on Economic Cooperation concluded Dec. 9 in Taipei City, underscoring the commitment of the like-minded partners to deepening exchanges across the board, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
Convened by Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Chen Chern-chyi and his Slovak counterpart Karol Galek, the three-day event saw the two sides engage in detailed discussions on such sectors as block chain, digitalization for small and medium enterprises, electric cars, green economy and smart cities.
 
Taiwan and Slovakia also signed nine memoranda of understanding on cooperation spanning areas like aerospace, educational talent exchanges, R&D innovation, science park development, scientific research, tourism and trade promotion.
 
The MOFA said the memorandums follow seven similar pacts inked during the visit of an economic and trade delegation led by National Development Council Minister Kung Ming-hsin to the EU member state in October.
 
In addition, both sides inked the Protocol of the 1st Session of the Taiwanese-Slovak Commission on Economic Cooperation, and pledged to hold the second edition of the commission next year in the European country, the MOFA said.
 
In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the ministry said “Signed, sealed & delivered! The Concluding Ceremony of the 1st Session of The Taiwanese-Slovak Commission on Economic Cooperation produced an exciting protocol of prosperity & 9 potential-laden memorandums of cooperation. Congratulations to all for taking ties to new heights!”
