Slovakia delegation's Taiwan visit welcomed by MOFA

The visit by the largest and highest-ranking delegation from Slovakia since the nation established an office in Taiwan is sincerely welcomed by the government and people of the country, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dec. 5.
 
Led by Karol Galek, state secretary of Slovakia’s Ministry of Economy, the 43-member group comprises officials, researchers, as well as industry and academic representatives, the MOFA said.
 
The itinerary includes economic and trade talks between the two countries, aimed at expanding partnership across a broad spectrum of sectors. Subsequent discussions are expected to encompass business matchmaking, advancing industrial ties, creating investment opportunities and building on supply chain cooperation.
 
Significant progress has been made in strengthening friendship and expanding exchanges between the like-minded partners over recent years, the ministry said. This is illustrated by the passage of a resolution by the Foreign Affairs Committee of Slovakia’s National Council supporting Taiwan’s participation at the World Health Assembly, the timely donation of 160,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to the country in September, as well as the EU trade and investment tour led by National Development Council Minister Kung Ming-hsin, it added.
 
In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the ministry said “A warm #Taiwan welcome to Karol Galek, #Slovakia State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, & the 43-strong delegation of high-level officials & research, industry & academic representatives. We wish our good friends from the #EU member state a successful 6-day visit.”
