President Tsai pledges to build more resilient supply chains in Taiwan

President Tsai Ing-wen said Nov. 11 that the government will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with industries to forge resilient supply chains in Taiwan.
 
Tsai commended Taiwan’s manufacturers for their part in boosting the country’s economic growth as revealed by the latest figures from the Cabinet-level Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics. Their efforts played a pivotal role in helping Taiwan achieve export orders of US$40.1 billion in October, which is not only a record high for a single month, but also reflects 16 consecutive months of growth, she added.
 
The president made the remarks during the opening of the 75th National Industrial Festival organized by the Taipei City-based Chinese National Federation of Industries in the capital.
 
The government is sparing no effort to fast-track the country’s development through measures like maintaining a secure and stable supply of electricity while deepening collaboration with key trading partners, Tsai said, citing the Taiwan-U.S. Trade and Investment Framework Agreement Council meeting staged earlier this year and the country’s bid to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership as notable examples.
 
Other high-profile attendees at the event included Hsu Kuo-yung, minister of the Interior; Lin Chuan-neng, vice minister of Economic Affairs; as well as William Wang, chairman of the CNFI.
