Double Tenth National Day congratulatory messages from allies and like-minded partners worldwide are sincerely appreciated by the government and people of Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As of Oct. 12, messages by 434 heads of government and state, dignitaries and political figures from 39 countries, territories and organizations were received, the MOFA said. These took the form of letters, official statements, social media posts and video recordings, the ministry added.
The nations included allies Belize, Guatemala, Holy See, Kingdom of Eswatini, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau and Tuvalu, as well as Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, France, Hungary, Lithuania, Monaco, Mongolia, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Uruguay, the U.K., U.S., Venezuela and Vietnam.
Among the high-profile U.S. senders were Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the House of Representatives, and 76 members of Congress.
Such a welcome show of support underscores the strength of friendship between Taiwan and its allies and like-minded partners, the MOFA said. The government will leave no stone unturned in bolstering the country’s existing partnerships while seeking new opportunities for collaboration and exchanges, the ministry added.
In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the MOFA said “National Day celebrations are underway around #Taiwan! We thank the country’s allies, friends & like-minded partners for the outpouring of support & choosing to #StandWithTaiwan.”
