Taiwan Ocean Culture Film Festival to screen domestic, overseas productions

A total of 40 productions are set to screen at the upcoming 2021 Taiwan Ocean Culture Film Festival, according to the Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development under the Ministry of Culture Aug. 19.
This year’s lineup includes domestic and foreign films dedicated to ocean-themed topics such as the ecological environment, fishing villages, marine professions and maritime culture, according to the MOC. The festival will tour 10 cities and counties across the country from Sept. 1 to Nov. 21, with over 100 screenings all together.
In a statement, the BAMID said the 2021 edition consists of five sections encompassing a spotlight on featured director and avid environmentalist Ke Chin-yuan as well as international perspectives from Japan, Singapore, South Korea and the U.S. Ke’s “May Sea Turtles Be With You... Always” is set to premiere at the opening ceremony in Taipei City, the bureau added.
Organized by the MOC, TOCFF is the first film festival in Taiwan dedicated to the exploration of ocean culture. It aims to deepen local understanding of the sea and promote sustainable use of marine resources.
