Direct Foreign Investment Amount in Nicaragua Grew 67% in 2011

The CEO of the Nicaraguan Investment Promotion Agency, Javier Chamoro, said that while the attracted direct foreign investment to Nicaragua did not reach the pre-set target of 1 billion U. S. dollars in 2011, the total investment amount reached 850 million U. S. dollars, which is still a sharp growth of 67%, when compared to the 580 million U. S. dollars in 2010. The investment amount accounts for 14% of the gross national product, which is higher than the 7-to-10% of the past ratio, and a superior performance compared to other central and southern American countries, indicating the great investment potential in Nicaragua.
