The price research report released by the Central Bank of Nicaragua indicates that the consumer price index of Nicaragua in 2011 rose 7.9%. Although it is lower than the Central Bank’s estimation of 8% to 9%, it is still higher than the rest of the Central American countries. In particular, the prices of food, milk and other daily necessities rose the most, which not only puts greater living pressure on the general fixed salary income class and a majority of the consumers, lower-income households are suffering an even greater impact.
