Internet Shopping Becomes Increasingly Popular in El Salvador

Visa Credit Card Group conducted a research about the popularity in using Internet for shopping in Central America in 2007. The research report suggests that El Salvador ranked 3rd, with US$21.9 million total trading turnover. Costa Rica ranked No. 1, with US$141 million total trading turnover, with Guatemala ranking as the runner-up, US$58 million in turnover. In entire Central America, the Internet shopping values came to US$449 million, far below the single-country turnover of either Mexico and Brazil. Now, four years later, Costa Rica remains to rank as No. 1. The total Internet shopping value in El Salvador in 2012 is anticipated to grow by 35% in 2011.
