Taiwan welcomes upcoming visit by President Whipps, Palau delegation

The upcoming five-day visit to Taiwan of a delegation led by Palau President Surangel Whipps Jr. is sincerely welcomed by the government and people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said March 25.
 
Scheduled to arrive March 28, Whipps will meet President Tsai Ing-wen, Premier Su Tseng-chang and MOFA Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu, as well as host an international press conference and attend tourism campaigns organized by Palau Visitors Authority’s representative office in Taiwan.
 
According to the MOFA, the Western Pacific ally is committed to deepening Taiwan-Palau ties in key areas such as aviation, business investment, medicine and tourism. The delegation also plans to visit aquaculture and shipping industry facilities in southern Taiwan, the ministry said.
 
The delegation will be picked up and sent off by Foreign Minister Wu on behalf of the government, the MOFA said. Members will depart with the first outbound tour group to Palau April 1 to experience firsthand the boarding process of the Taiwan-Palau travel bubble, it added.

Taiwan and Palau celebrated 20 years of diplomatic relations in 2019. They share a rich Austronesian heritage and are working together to advance peace, stability and sustainable development across the Indo-Pacific.
