Mask-making equipment donation underscores strength of Taiwan-Czechia ties
2021/03/02
The recent donation of mask-making equipment by the government and people to the Czech Republic demonstrates how Taiwan Can Help strengthen the global response to COVID-19, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Feb. 26.
Facilitated by Tainan City-headquartered Autoland Technology Co. Ltd. in southern Taiwan, the donation arrived in the Czech Republic earlier this month, the MOFA said. The equipment will be used by manufacturers in the EU member state to produce FFP or N95 masks for front-line medical staffers and the public, the ministry added.
In a tweet the day before, Czech Sen. Pavel Fischer thanked the MOFA for the “precious aid” and “generous assistance,” adding that it is an “exquisite example of alliance in hardship.” The ministry replied “Many thanks @PavelFischer for recognizing #TaiwanCanHelp strengthen the #CzechRepublic’s response to #COVID19 & realize #HealthForAll. Freedom- & democracy-loving countries must always stand shoulder to shoulder when facing global challenges in the name of the greater good.”
On Feb. 17, Czech Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Martina Tauberova tweeted her gratitude. The MOFA responded “We genuinely appreciate @mtauberova’s message of friendship & gratitude. #Taiwan is willing & able to share #Coronavirus-combating know-how & items critical in strengthening the global response to #COVID19. The cooperative spirit of the #TaiwanCzechia2020 visit is alive & well!”
The ministry said Taiwan will continue deepening coronavirus consultation and cooperation with the Czech Republic as per the partnership announced in April.
As a responsible member of the international community, Taiwan is willing and able to share medical know-how and resources in managing the pandemic and achieving U.N. Sustainable Development Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, the MOFA added.
