FDA membership of International Cooperation on Cosmetics Regulation...

Unanimous approval of the Food and Drug Administration under the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s application for membership in the International Cooperation on Cosmetics Regulation was welcomed Dec. 10 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
 Reached during ICCR’s annual three-day meeting staged virtually, the decision was made by the Steering Committee comprising FDA counterparts from Brazil, Canada, Japan, the EU and U.S. The administration partcipated in the group’s acitivities and meetings as an observer since 2016.
 
 According to the MOFA, the development demonstrates global recognition of government efforts to bring Taiwan’s related regulations more in line with world-leading standards. It also shows the success of policies aimed at expanding the country’s international space, the ministry added.
 
 The MOFA said it will continue supporting cooperation between the FDA and ICCR in strengthening global cosmetics regulations while ensuing the rights of consumers in Taiwan and abroad.
 
 In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the MOFA said “.@MOHW_Taiwan’s Food & Drug Administration is now a member of the International Cooperation on Cosmetics Regulation. #ICCR boosts consumer protection & eases barriers to global trade via multilateral cooperation. A big thanks to the Steering Committee!”
 
ICCR, established in 2007, is a voluntary group of overseas cosmetics regulatory authorities working to enhance product safety and laws, as well as advance dialogue with trade associations. Its contributions are seen as integral to keeping the global industry on a positive growth track.
