MOFA welcomes upcoming visit by Czech senate delegation

The forthcoming visit of a delegation led by Czech Senate President Milos Vystrcil is sincerely welcomed by the government and people, with parliamentary exchanges set to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Aug. 25.
According to the MOFA, Taiwan and the Czech Republic share the universal values of democracy, freedom and respect for human rights, and the Czech Republic also serves as a major manufacturing and research hub for Taiwan firms in Central and Eastern Europe. Both sides are sure to benefit greatly from further collaboration in the culture, high-tech, medical and tourism sectors, it added.
Around 90 prominent individuals are scheduled to join Vystrcil including 1st Vice President of the Czech Senate Jiri Ruzicka, Prague Mayor Zdenek Hrib and representatives of the Czech business, cultural, education and media sectors.
From Aug. 30 to Sept. 4, Vystrcil and key members of the group will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen, Legislative Yuan President You Si-kun, Premier Su Tseng-chang and other senior government officials such as MOFA Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu and Minister of Health and Welfare Chen Shih-chung. They will also attend a Taiwan-Czech trade and investment forum.
In addition, Vystrcil will receive the Medal of Honor for Parliamentary Diplomacy from You and deliver speeches on Taiwan-Czech relations at the Legislature and National Chengchi University in Taipei City, the MOFA said.
