2020/07/23

Ten Taiwan works are set to feature at the July 22 to 26 virtual edition of Comic-Con International: San Diego, underscoring the country’s credentials as a mecca of art and creativity.

Supported by the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan Academy under Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles and locally headquartered CACPA, the country’s 2020 lineup draws upon such themes as folk religion, fantasy and legend.

The titles are “Chronos Ruler” by Ponjea; “Debug” by Nyaroro; “The Hidden Level” by Chang Sheng; “Loss of the Holy Seal” by Yin Yin; “Oh, My Goddess!” by Chiyou; “Rites of Returning” by Zuo Hsuan; “Skanda” by T. K. Zhang Shixin; “The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest” by Liver Jam and Popo; “The Tiger God: A Prequel to the Tag-along” by Yang Wan-ju and Yuzu; and “Today is Another Lucky Day for the Chairman” by Twinkle.

One of the highlights of the event is a special livestreamed session co-presented by Ponjea. The top talent will draw the curtains back on the creative ins and outs behind his time travel fantasy, as well as the process leading to its adaptation into an animation.

Comic-Con, established in 1970, is considered the world’s premier showcase for comic books and related popular art forms. In recent years, it has notched up event attendance numbers in excess of 130,000.
