Nicaragua Receives Aides from Venezuela to Build Refinery

According to Chairman of ALBANISA in Nicarugua, Francisco Lopez, on October 24, 2011 in the 7th Consejo Ministerial de Petrocaribe, Venezuela’s Minister of Energy and Mines reiterates its support of Supremo Sueño de Bolívar to build refineries in Nicaragua and Cuba, in order to increase the capacity in the region and boost regional distribution to 570,000 barrels per day. The project is expected to complete within four years and to refine 150,000 barrels per day by 2016. The site will be located in Miramar, Nicaragua. The engineering contract for the first phase shall be inked at the end of 2011.
