US Congress Passes TPC with Panama

The US and Panama governments began in March 2003 the negotiations about Trade Promotion Agreement (TPC) and closed the talks in December 2006. In June 2007, the US and Panama governments signed TPC agreement. In December 2007, the Panama Congress passed its review. On October 3, 2011, President Obama submitted the TPC to the US Congress for reviews. The Senate and the House of Representatives finally passed the TPC on October 12, 2011 with 77 against 22 votes and 300 against 129 votes, respectively. President Obama formally signed the agreement on October 21. Panama has finally achieved the results after eight years of efforts from three governments. Its president, Martinelli, was very pleased with the outcome and contributed to its success to all the people of Panama.
