El Salvador posts 8.3% rise in FDI

Data provided by the Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador shows the country’s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) increased by 8.3% to US$ 640.6 million between June 2010 and June 2011. The country registered US$ 8.347 billion in total FDI over the first half of 2011, with the financial & insurance sector being the leading contributor (US$ 2.8436 billion), followed by manufacturing (US$ 2.5043 billion), IT & telecom (US$ 1.2569 billion), electricity supply (US$ 1.1189 billion), commerce (US$ 738.4 million), others (US$ 234.6 million), mining (US$ 44.7 million), transportation & warehousing (US$ 32.4 million), construction (US$ 20.6 million) and agriculture & animal husbandry (US$ 2.7 million).
