Chishang Autumn Rice Harvest Arts Festival wrapped up Oct. 27 in Taitung, drawing more than 2,400 visitors from home and abroad to the southeastern county’s golden fields.
Organized by Lovely Taiwan Foundation and Chishang Arts Organization, the two-day festival featured concerts, forums, exhibitions and workshops themed around the beauty of Taitung’s land and people.
Among the musicians performing were singer-songwriter Chen Jian-nian, a member of the indigenous Pinuyumayan people who won Best Male Mandarin Singer at the 2000 Golden Melody Awards, and Chyi Yu, who won Best Female Mandarin Singer at the 1998 GMA.
According to Ko Wen-chang, chairman of LTF, the annual festival delivers high-quality performances that help preserve the county’s cultural heritage. It provides visitors with an opportunity to learn more about life in Taitung, he added.
Liang Cheng-hsieh, chairman of CAO, said he hoped the local scenery left a lasting impression on people, adding that domestic and foreign tourists attending the festival are often visiting for the first time.
First held in 2009, Chishang Autumn Rice Harvest Arts Festival is hosted in the eponymous rural township to coincide with the yearly crop of the region’s famed staple food.
